Staying Safe and Healthy While Working Abroad
HOW TO CONDUCT A SYSTEMATIC RISK ASSESSMENT FOR OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
Every organisation has a Duty of Care responsibility towards its workforce. Every employee has the fundamental right to life and physical integrity.

This guide is based on the original German version "Leitfaden zur Erstellung der Gefährdungsbeurteilung". Due to a huge demand, the International SOS Foundation along with its co-publishers have decided to develop an international English version of the guidance, making it available to a wider audience.

This guide explains:
  • the steps included in the risk assessment process;
  • how organisations prepare their risk assessment;
  • which hazards should be identified within occupational health and safety, health protection and travel security abroad;
  • what preventive and acute measures can be taken to ensure the health, safety and security of mobile workers and to fulfill the duty of care.

This paper was developed in partnership with Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, International Social Security Association (ISSA) and Vision Zero.
